Beauty for Ashes

There is a little girl sitting in front of me, not more than five years old and I wouldn’t want her growing up in a world far worse than it is now. Or at The least, I’d like to see her equipped with everything she needs to thrive in a world that seeks out to destroy her humanity, a world that’s set up to break her heart at every age and kill her spirit before she can even learn that she is more spirit than flesh.

Yes Lord, the world is unfair, its chaotic and destructive but I’d like to see a people immersed in you, in your spirit. For people to know that its going to be alright, that they are prepared for whatever comes their way. That they are equipped not only to manage the volatile environment they live in but you have equipped them to thrive in said environment, to transform the environment and make it bend to your will.

Lord, let what breaks your heart-break mine. May I be immersed in your love so much that it spills over into every person I come across.

Strengthen me to make the hard decisions. Strengthen me to stand through the storms.

You promise beauty for ashes, joy in the place of mourning, a garment of praise instead of a spirit of heaviness. May we enter your rest. Exist in rest, work in rest, love in rest, worship in your rest.

In the name of Jesus Christ, amen
